Be Clearly Aware of The Reason – Crystal Bracelet

Cause and effect reincarnation is an important concept in Buddhism. Read this post about the Buddhism story “Be Clearly Aware of The Reason” and discover the bracelet designed by it.

Cause and effect: Everything in the world is in a causal relationship. “Cause” is what can give birth, that is, the reason for producing results; “effect” is what is born, that is, the result produced by the cause. Every action and every thought has its corresponding cause and effect. Good causes produce good effects, and bad causes produce bad effects.

Reincarnation: It refers to the circulation of life in different states of existence. Buddhism believes that life is not just once, but undergoes continuous cycles of life and death in the six realms (heaven, human, asura, animal, hungry ghost, and hell). The purpose of reincarnation is to give life the opportunity to eliminate karmic obstacles and achieve liberation through practice in the continuous circulation. Buddhism believes that reincarnation is a painful process because in reincarnation, life will constantly experience all kinds of sufferings such as birth, old age, sickness, death, separation from loved ones, meeting with resentment, and not getting what one desires.

Regarding Be Clearly Aware of The Reason, there is an allusion:

Be Clearly Aware of The Reason and Effect

When Zen Master Baizhang Huaihai was giving a sermon, there was often an old man who came to listen.

One day, after everyone had left, the old man remained and told Zen Master Baizhang Huaihai that he was not an ordinary person but someone from the era of Kassapa Buddha.

At that time, he was a great practitioner living on this mountain. Due to answering a question wrongly, he fell into the body of a fox and had been in that state for 500 generations. The old man asked Zen Master Baizhang Huaihai, “Does a great practitioner still fall into cause and effect?” Zen Master Baizhang Huaihai replied, “Be Clearly Aware of The Reason and Effect.”

The old man had a great awakening and took his leave with a salute. The next day, Zen Master Baizhang Huaihai led his disciples and found a wild fox’s corpse in the back mountain. They cremated it according to the monastic rules.

“Be Clearly Aware of The Reason” means not being confused by cause and effect and facing the effects of cause and effect with the correct mentality and behavior. No one can be free from cause and effect. It reminds people to be responsible for their own actions. Understanding the principle that good deeds bring good rewards and evil deeds bring bad rewards. At the same time, people should not be bound by cause and effect. Instead, through practice and enlightenment, they can transcend the limitations of cause and effect and reach a higher realm.
