Google made big changes to the ways their search results rank, the reason cited is that google wanted to provide more relevant results, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, put it this way, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. Google started this change almost one year ago, and recently I see some of my ranks were lowered considerably, the good thing is that those keywords promoted by content rich links are not affected, a few of these keywords ranked better than ever, it’s almost a sure thing that plain link building loses all it’s attraction, at least in the eye of google.
What is old way of link building any way? There are a lot of SEO company out there are doing this, they put your links on websites which only exist for holding links, these websites will only be updated when new links are being added, it’s safe to assume all of them are trash, the name link spamming are just for these sites. Now google algorithm probably will weed out these sites, any links on them will be affected too.
Let’s check out a few examples. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I started promote the keyword, Tow Chain, of course with old way of link building, a lot of sites I used had too many links, worst yet, those sites had no content at all. In the beginning, the ranking of the keyword in question rise pretty fast, lately the keyword link stayed on the first page for a while, the honeymoon lasted until google changed it’s mind. Here is another keyword, chain pullers, most back links for this keyword are from articles and posts, not too many plain links have been built, you can imagine how this keyword ranks. Now contextual links win the battle, then what? Actually this is all about content, so if you create great content, not only people will love to read your stuff, so do the search engines. It’s never too late to build good blogs for business purpose, for instance let’s examine this one, best baby strollers , I build it as a hobby and kept adding good or mediocre content, I guess you believe this site won’t be doing too well, in actuality my site is ranking high for some nice search phrases. As far as SEO concerned, quality article marketing is much better than plain link building. If you can build a group of your own blogs, for instance E Track, then you will have a powerful weapon in your SEO arsenal.
Remember content is king, you just need to create content, publish and share with people, and put your keywords in the context you’re good to go, as long as you don’t stop doing this, you will win over customers and search engines. Persistence and patience are the keys to success, you shouldn’t expect things to improve overnight, i.e., selling online or improve your search rankings, keep doing what we have to do till the end of world.
